Mazey’s deeply personal and contemplative works capture the artist’s inherent optimism through a playful lens. Utilising ceramic slabs, Mazey has created a range of pieces including an incense burner, a neapolitan-striped totem and several wall works and installations comprised of elegantly rippled ceramic panels. The works’ maximalism belies a deeper expression of love and loss through the immediacy and vulnerability of the ceramic medium. In the artist’s words, “we’re all going to die, and we haven’t yet.  It becomes a bit of a call to action to be present while we can, and there’s something kind of liberating and optimistic in the futility of it all which I find solace in.”
